►Download PSD + Stock photos to practice: 🤍 In this photoshop photo blending tutorial, learn how to add & blend skies to create amazing great eye catching photos in photoshop easily. For this episode i selected white sky image which has blown out areas so that i’m going to add new sky to it. And also i will reflect colors and lighting on the surface according to the new sky. First open photo in photoshop and to add new sky, place sky layer exactly near the horizon. Then change blending to “Multiply”. You may notice that some of the bottom edges are still visible so we’re going to disappear it using blending options. Open blending options and drag the black triangle towards right to blend the sky with the underlying layer. Now to make color match, add same sky layer and apply gaussian blur to remove textures and keep colors. Then change blending mode to “Softlight”. Final step, Create a stamp visible copy layer by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+E and open it in camera raw and adjust some highlights, shadows, whites and blacks to your liking to make colors pop. In the previous video, I've introduced you to the very powerful technique of layer masking, which allows you to selectively reveal, or hide, parts of a layer or layer adjustment. I hope you've had a chance to experiment with that technique, in between watching that video and this one. If you have, and you've managed to get your head around layer masking in this way, then the really good news is that you already know how to blend multiple exposure manually as well. What I'm going to do, is run you through an example just to show you how you can transfer that knowledge, and that skill, across into image blending. Before I do that, I just want to explain, for folks who haven't marketed exposure and blended them together before, what it means and why it's a good thing. The short version is that our camera senses can only capture detail within a certain range of light values. When a scene contains a lot of contrast between the darkest and brightest parts. That's when neither our highlights blow out or our shadows become always black. In order to capture the full range of light, we need to take two or more shots. One, exposed for that part. One, for the bright part. Depending on how far apart these exposures are, we may need to take a number in between exposures as well. Now, if it is new to you, this is called bracketing. Your [inaudible 00:01:31] camera is going to have an option to do this. All you need to do is just click the shutter, say, three or five times. It's going to automatically adjust the exposure each time you click the shutter. Alternatively, if you're comfortable changing the exposures manually, you can also do it that way. Coming up, I've just got an example where I've taken three exposures. I'm going to blend them together, just using the simple layer masking techniques that I've shown you in the previous videos. Let's get on with it now. For this example, I've already pre-loaded three different exposures in to their own layer in photo shop. All I've got is this dark exposure on top, where basically the only part of this image I'm interested in is the sky here. That's the brightest part. I just wanted to make sure that all the detail and color is there, in that bright part of the sky. If I just hide this top layer now, you'll see like the middle exposure, which has a little bit more detail around this middle area here. Those are highlights in the sky have started to blow out. If I just hide this middle layer here, then you've got really quite substantially brighter exposure, just at the bottom of this stack here. Obviously, this is going to be good for the darkest parts which are this kind of cliff face here, with the mounting behind it. Just the foreground here with the pool. Since the contrast of the scene was quite heavy with dark shadows and super bright highlights, getting all the details from a single photo doesn’t make much sense. To counter that I did some basic exposure blending with Photoshops Apply Mask tool. Before that however, I first worked on the raw adjustments. 0:50 1. Basic Adjustments For this image I had three different exposures (one for the shadows, one for the highlights and a “base” exposure). I started the raw adjustments o the base exposure and later synchronized the settings with the other two raw files. I started by changing the profile to Adobe Landscape for a bit more saturation. Then, I adjusted the white balance making the image slightly colder. Since I’m going to blend different images, I don’t bother changing the exposure settings. However, I did add some texture, clarity and vibrance to get a sharp, saturated look. 1:48 2. Masking I used a simply radial gradient over the boardwalk to add some more texture and clarity 2:13 3. Color Grading I brought down the yellow saturation, while increasing green and blue. Then, in the calibration panel, I brought down the blue primary hue and raised the saturation. 3:08 4. Exposure Blending To do the exposure blending, I placed the brightest photo at the bottom, then the base exposure and then the darkest shot for the shadows on top. For this you want to disable the top two layers and add a layer mask on both of them. Starting with the base exposure, I selected the layer mask, then went to the image menu (at the very top) and chose apply image. Without adjusting the settings just hit ok and enable the base-layer again. This way, you can easily blend different exposures, however you might need to further adjust the layer mask to get the desired look in the end! To finish this, I added a bit of Orthon glow just over the highlights, and then some more contrast using a levels adjustment layer. #photoshoptutorial #photoshop #photoshopediting

This video demonstrates how to combine two exposures for the same image using Affinity Photo into a single frame. After last week’s video demonstrating exposure blending in Photoshop, I’ve had requests for the same thing in Affinity Photo. This week I miss out the RAW processing and start with the images in Affinity Photo. I then combine the images as separate layers of the same image before using a luminosity selection to blend the two together. This replaces the overexposed sky from one image with the correctly exposed sky in another. This technique uses a luminosity mask created from the overexposed sky. In this video tutorial, I explain how to use the new Luminosity Range Mask in Affinity Photo 2 to blend two image layers. The example in the video shows a landscape photo captured as a RAW file. The RAW file is then processed twice, using different settings. One image is processed to make the sky look good whilst the other is processed for the foreground rocks. The two images are then easily blended using the Luminosity Range Mask.
